Elroy waited until Emery dropped the massive block then pressed against Molly protectively. "Obsidian is made from rapidly cooling magma. Its like glass. Glass can be melted... Molly could melt." he looked at her. "If I could find a way to melt her statue..." he trailed off. It was a long shot, but it was all he had.
--
Rapid was already pouring another. "Relaxing seems like a bad idea with so many strangers around." he eyed the pair int he back and then the young man in front of him. "But I might as well stick around a few minutes..."

Nailah stood frozen, her hands curling into fists and out again. "What are you implying?" she commanded, keeping deathly still.
Johnny angled his head towards Elroy. "Are you saying...Molly's not dead?" he clarified, a smile blooming on his face.

Elroy shrugged. "I... I don't know ok I've never seen her turned to solid rock before!" he rubbed his shoulders exhaustedly. "But Molly's an advanced fire slinger, she can form to magma, magma can form to rock. THIS rock. If I can melt it, maybe she can get free if she... I'f she's not..." he shook his head. "Its like the phoenix, rising from its own ashes. Its a myth, but maybe I can try." He wiped blood from his nose. "For Molly I'll try anything."

Nailah closed her eyes, sucking in a ragged breath. She could barely believe the thought. Molly...She opened her eyes, looking at her statue. "What would you need to make that happen?"

Elroy sighed. "Heat, like a forge. I'd have to do research for how hot." he frowned. "So you still gonna kill me?" he rubbed his freezing arms.
Emery looked to Robert and back to Elroy. "Is he saying if they melt that rock that Molly will pop out fine and dandy? I have a hard time believing that."

Nailah let the tension in her arms die. "Save her," she said, beginning to back away, casting a glance towards Emery. "If you can't, we'll talk again." Her form liquified and she slunk away.
Johnny watched her leave warily. He hoped not to see her again anytime soon. He shrugged at Emery, still smiling optimistically. "If anyone can pull it off, it'd be Elroy!" He jogged over to him, lending him an arm. "Your nose looks a bit beat there, mate. We'll get you an ice pack for that." He patted Elroy's arm comfortingly. "Where's the nearest safe house? He needs to get out of these rags."

Emery leaned against a bent lamp post. "Probably your place." he shook his head to clear it. "Or the library, but they're pretty stuffy."
"Library." Elroy shivered. "I need to go there, to research." he looked to Molly. "I can't just leave her out here..."
--
Kate redressed. "Thanks." she sighed in relief. "Thought that bozo wouldn't be able to hit me." She stood up. "Lets go back, my dad's probably flipping out." she headed towards the door.

“I am not!” Zeke protested loudly. A few heads turned and he ducked his head down in embarrassment. He withdrew his hands again and wrapped them around his torso before returning his petulant glare back to Alliser. “I’m not easily riled.” His voice was a strained hiss. “You’re just as annoying as you were back then. And why would I blame them? You’re the one that turned into a complete asshole after!” He slumped back in his chair. “I don’t know why I expected any different; you were always an asshole.” He met his eye briefly before looking away with a scowl. He took a deep breath, trying to calm the fire boiling his blood. “But like you said,” he added smoothly after a few moments, “that was years ago. I haven’t thoutht about it since. And now have a nice, handsome boyfriend. Who likes me and respects me. And doesn’t help cause the end of the world because his brother told him so.” He looked up at him with a sneering smile.
——
Dane snorted. “You and I have different ideas of what a good idea is then,” he muttered downing the rest of his drink.

Rapid frowned. "I shouldn't even be here." he sighed. "I need to go back to the safe house..." he looked towards Zeke at his little outburst, muscles tensing, ready to hurry over if needed. "This place is stressin' me out." he poured another drink. Maybe one shouldn't empty a whole container of gin into themselves in under ten minutes. But he was stressed and unawares. He set the empty bottle on the counter with a thunk.

Alliser smiled, glancing at Levi and Layla across the bar. "No, but you're just as involved in the end of the world as I am, aren't you? At least I'm honest about it." He leant across the table top. "How does it make your nice, handsome, boyfriend feel, to know that three Rebel soldiers are sitting right here in this bar. All of them with their own share of history with you." His gaze flicked around the bar before settling on Zeke. "And you like your history with me. I can see just how nervous I still make you. It's flattering. But, you know, that lovely Commando boyfriend of yours can see it too. Didn't you notice him run out the door the minute you sat down? I think he understands more about you than even you do, Zeke."
---
Johnny nodded. "Then let's get you out of this cold," he said, wrapping his arms around Elroy to share his body heat as they began the walk to the old building.

Elroy gave Molly a log look. "I'm coming back." he promised before following Johnny on unsteady legs towards the nearest shelter.
Emery gave Robert side eyes. "Were you following me again." he asked bluntly. "I thought you were on guard duty."

Alan kept watch in the apartment from the living room, feeding the fire and checking in on Angani and Kaiser periodically. Angani was having a rough time, he'd snapped out of his initial shock and was now fussing frantically over Kaiser. He had heated a blanket near the fire then brought it back into their bedroom and wrapped them over Kaiser's shoulders.
"Kaiser are you awake?" he murmured worriedly. "Kaiser?" he squeezed his good hand.

Dane laughed. Well, at least the booze worked here. He took the bottle himself and followed suit. "Well, I shouldn't be here either, if that helps. Everything used to be so perfect and now I'm getting drunk in this shithole. God I hate everything," he finished with a laugh before tipping his glass into his mouth.
Panic and guilt settled like a rock in Zeke's chest. "That's different," he muttered, his voice losing all of its conviction. "Besides, I've never told Enzo about it, and he doesn't need to know. It doesn't matter." He shifted in his seat. Alliser still knew exactly what to do and to say to make his skin crawl. "You don't make me nervous. You make me annoyed. I don't care about you anymore, I care about him. He knows that. He was just being polite!"

Alliser smiled into his hand. "Ah, I see. So you're playing pretend." He snickered as Zeke grew flustered. He slid his hand across the table, trailing a finger around the rim of Zeke's shot glass. "I think he realised he was the third wheel in his own relationship." He smiled wickedly. "Why don't you pour us another drink, bartender? I think I'm enjoying this reunion with you after all."
---
Kaiser rolled over, woken by Angani's voice. He'd fallen in to a fitful sleep, body twitching in response to the alarming dreams his fever had conjured for him. "'Gani," he croaked, smiling happily at the warmth and Angani's presence. "Are you feeling better? Get under here with me, it's warm."

Rapid laughed, a flash of white teeth in his normally grim face. "Hey...'snot so bad. My boss is a cool guy." he cracked open another bottle. "What's this, cider? That'll work." he passed one to his new friend and clinked the glass to his. "To the end of the world." he sighed. "Wish it wasn't happening." He leaned against the bar, the alcohol warmed him and loosened his usual stony disposition, making him more friendly and chatty. "I'm Rapid... by the way."
--
Angani snuggled under the covers to face him, holding his hand and rubbing his thumb under his knuckles. "I tried to find you... I heard all your messages but I couldn't respond." he sniffed. "I saw the door open... thought you came home. But they were here and..." he shuddred at the thought. "Thanks for coming back." he pressed close to him. "But you're hurt now." he sniffed. "Home come I didn't do something to help you... I just sat there...."
--
Once back at Johnny and Sheila's Elroy passed out from cold and exhaustion. Sheila put him to bed and kept cleaning up the boat from the attack. "Maybe we should move into the city, to the library. Its safer than being so close to the island, and Elroy can research that idea he was talking about." she watched Bobby jump onto the couch and curl up against Elroy, falling asleep.
"I don't trust Nailah, she'll come back if we stay here." she murmured worriedly. "And Molly, we need to get her off the streets."

Kaiser shivered as Angani's cold body slipped under the blanket with him. He pressed his face under his chin. "I only found you because you left the candle," he sniffled, rubbing at his nose. "If you hadn't...I was starting to think you were dead. I thought you'd died in the surge and I'd just abandoned you to it." He wiped at his tears. "How can you ever forgive me for just leaving you like that?"
---
Johnny nodded his head, eyes wandering back to the window every so often. He couldn't relax so long as he was in here, expecting an attack from the Rebels at any moment. And this time it wouldn't be such a small force. "We'll have to move," he agreed apologetically. "It's not just Nailah I'm worried about. Those Rebels seemed pretty desperate to get him back." He went to help Sheila start packing the flyaway pots back into their cupboards. "Sorry Sheils, it's my fault. I lead them back here." Johnny looked at her regretfully. "I just didn't know where else to take him."
