"Ok. Buddy system it is. Emery, let's go. We need to get this done." She gave a hard look to Molly, one she knew her friend would understand to mean goodbye. There was a short nod to Ranger Pike before she stopped to see the kids. She bent down to Leon, hand running through his hair in a familiar motion. "Be good while I'm gone, ok?" Pulling him in for a quick, tight squeeze she kissed his forehead. In turn she said parting words to the rest of the children before heading for the exit.
Ridley gasped when the refrigerator door made contact with her body. The man's strength sent her crashing into the wall on the other side of the room. She groaned in pain. Her ribs were at least bruised, if not broken.
Ren heard the commotion, but didn't stop to look. The button was just within his grasp and he shot forward- arm outstretched. The contact had an immediate affect. Sirens started to sound all around them and red lights flashed.
Sayid let go of Gabriel in alarm. "We need to go. Commandos will be here soon. There's no way the girl can fight." He looked to Ridley and sighed. He picked her up like a ragdoll, throwing her over his shoulder and ignoring her moans of pain. The red head scampered after them, illusion ready if any of the boys decided to foil their escape. At the last second, Sayid turned and said, "This won't be the last time we see each other, Gabriel. I'll come back for you." The trio faded away, disappearing into thin air.
Ren let out a groan of relief before running over to Gabriel. "You okay? We gotta get outta here! Can you stand? Should I try to carry you?" His questions fell in a rush. Worry danced across his face.

Rapid was still holding the door and hefted it to throw at the retreating rebels but stopped as they rushed through the door. "We have to go..." he said shakily. He looked around. Steal or not, they were in trouble. He groaned and filled the bag with three gallons and hurried over to Ren and Gabe. "We have to go!" he said again. He hovered his hand a moment the scooped up Gabriel like a kitten ran out the door. "Hurry Ren!" he called as the sirens grew louder. They had to make a break for it!
Emery waved farewell to the kids. "We'll see you real soon." he murmured and followed Piper up the ladder to the surface. He popped up in the tunnel system and squinted in the dark until he saw the prick of light that led to the outside. He sighed out slow and headed that direction, hands half raised to launch away any potential threats.
Alan watched them go then his wrist started buzzing the second the liz shut. "Rebels in the area." he frowned. "Perfect..." he gritted his teeth. "They better watch it up there!"

Gabriel wasn't exactly happy about being carried like a child, but his ears still pounded with the unforgiving sound waves. He couldn't think straight, let alone walk. Though he flushed in embarrassment, he was grateful to Rapid. He couldn't get caught. Everything would change if he got caught.
Piper reached the sunlight, body already tense and cooling. She cautiously pulled herself up and into the outside world, studying her surroundings. Something felt off...
A bloodthirsty growl broke the silence. Behind them was a hulking beast. It's fur was long and grey, teeth bared back in a snarl. The sight was terrifying. The monster could stand nearly as tall as her. She didn't breath. She held her breath, watching Emery emerge from the corner of her eye. She took her eyes off of it for a second and the beast leaped at her, fangs bared.

Emery gasped and flung himself in front of Piper, hands up, he lifted the creature 10 feet above them and gritted his teeth against the weight, the veins on his arms slowly turning black under his skin as he struggled to keep the beast confined in the air. "Shoot it, Piper!" he yelled through gritted teeth.
Rapid hurried out of the building and took a new street, different from the way they had come. He heard sirens getting closer and then he heard the 'halt!' of the megaphone adapters. He spung around to see three Commandos racing down the alley. One had turned to inspect the store leaving the other two after them. He couldn't judge their powers from the distance so he turned and kept running, taking a tight corner and then running through a blasted hole through one building and out the front. He thought he'd given them the split and slowed down, hugging the wall of the building he set Gabriel down carefully like his was a piece of porcelain. "You ok??" he panted worriedly. Just then, a tar dart exploded over Rapid's exposed back and he siezed up, shouting in pain and collapsed on all fours as the painful, paralyzing toxins started to eat into his skin.

Piper didn't waste a second. Ice shot out of her palm and struck the beast. She wondered how the Rebels got such a beast to work for them. How did they train it? Her thoughts were cut off as it howled in pain before struggling even harder. She watched closely and in a split second their eyes met. They had a human-like appearance. It then struck her. She stopped her ice beam. "Emery. Em, stop! I think that's a person!"
The beast stilled at her words before looking her straight in the eye with a look that clearly implied she was correct.
"Yeah, I'm-RAPID!" Gabriel didn't see the Commando coming up behind the other man. Anger coursed through his veins and though he tried to stand, his body shook from the effort. Ren stuck close to Gabe, unsure of what to do. "Gabe?" His question hung in the air. Gabe nodded and Ren's arm turned into a shotgun. "HOLD YOUR FIRE. DON'T YOU DARE SHOOT ANOTHER ROUND. YOU MAY HAVE MODIFIED GUNS BUT WE HAVE REAL ONES, YOU HEAR ME?!" Gabe's voice rang out through the empty streets. If this didn't work he'd have to confess his identity to the guard.

Emery glared at the canine. "So what if its a person! It attacked us! It's probably a Rebel the second we let this lychan down its gonna rip our heads off!" Emery raised the critter higher, a dizzying drop that would make it think twice about falling. The veins on Emery's neck and face started to darken. "If you're a rebel you better stand down!" he snarled. "Or I'll drop you like a rock."
Rapid was gasping in pain. "Gabe r-run... don't antagonize them ju-just run!" he begged. He tried to reach behind him, face contorted in pain, he grabbed a handful of the spreading tar and tried to rip it off, but it latched onto his hand and started to creep up his arm. Tear streamed down his face and his breath was altering as the toxins spread throguh his system. He would be paralyzed in a few more seconds. "Go!" he gasped at Ren and Gabriel.
The two commandos started down the alley, tar cannons drawn. "You have no where else to run! Surrender or we'll have no choice but to assume you're rebels and shoot!"

Before their eyes the beast started to change shape, shifting and moving in grotesque ways till the fur was gone and a dark-haired, young man remained. His clothes were messy and his face looked savage. He truly looked the part of 'a beast.' The man sighed, "Alright. Alright. I give." his voice was low and had a rough edge to it that actually sounded like a growl.
Piper lowered her arms before looking at Emery. "You heard him."
Gabriel shook his head, fighting off his own tears. "No. No way. I'm not leaving you behind. So, just... just shut up!" A fierce anger overtook his body and he stood. Adrenaline pumped through his veins. "We are not rebels. My name is Gabriel Reed. Yes, Reed as Quentin Reed who is on the council. He is my father. If you dare come closer to us with those guns I'll make sure you regret it. We were running from Rebels! You should be chasing after them, not scouring us down. All we are is citizens."

"What's in the bag then?" The officer growled. "You ran from us back in the other alley! As for being a 'Reed' who's to say you aren't some clever face-changer! If you really are Reed's child he can come pick you up at the station!"
Rapid winced, the stinging was melting into blurred vision and shaky breathing. His strength had kept him conscious this long but he couldn't hold on forever. He didn't trust these commandos, and he could barely hear Gabriel anymore. He tried to think of something he could thrown, but he was afraid to make another move, in case they shot him again.
Emery glared at the shape shifter and set him down, dropping him at the last four feet just out of irritation to watch him fall. "Attack us again and I'll make you a smear on the sidewalk." he bristled, hair floating angrily around his head as his veins started to fade back from black. "Who is this guy, Piper." he said, pulling out his badge. "You got something to say for attacking two Commandos!"

"The bag is full of goods I stole. I stole them. Just me. These men just got caught in the cross-fire." he lied through his teeth, grasping at straws to get out of this situation. "If any of you actually knew my father you'd know he's far too busy trying to keep the city safe to bother coming to pick me up. You wouldn't want to inconvenience a council member, would you? I'm sure you've heard of his temper. He's not the nicest man around and this surely won't put him in a good mood to be taken away from his work for such a trivial matter. All you've got to do is let us go."
The man just watched them through a curtain of his hair, unfazed by the whole affair. His keen eyes noticed details and tried to process weaknesses of the two Commandos. He noticed the other man's powers start to fade and calm. The minute he reached that calm would be Wilder's chance. The woman had already let her guard down, probably thinking he was a citizen. He lifted his arms up in an 'I surrender' position before slowly walking closer. "I'm just a citizen. I thought you two were Rebels dressed up as Commandos. That has been happening a lot lately."

Emery snorted. "Riiiiight, Rebels dressed like Commandos, almost as common as Rebels masquerading as citizens. I think you're close enough, Fido." he held up a hand , lifting him two inches in warning before setting him back down where he started. "There was just a raid nearby, nasty Rebels. Hear anything?" He narrowed his eyes, wondering why Piper was being so stoic. He shouldered her in annoyance. "Hmmhmm?" he glanced at her.
"Lying can cause you more trouble that you know, Reed. If your father can't be bothered to pick you up from jail, then perhaps your name droppng is futile, now hands u--" the commando fell flat, Rapid, with his last bits of strength had thrown a gallon of milk straight at their face and knocked them flat on their back. The other commando fired a tar dart at Gabriel and Rapid stumbled up and caught it to the chest. He gritted his teeth and fell flat on his back, his vision flickered and he blacked out as the toxins overloaded his system, his heartrate started to slow.
"Double hit! I'll need an ambulance and a paddy wagon on north Willick street!" the commando called into their watch while the other sat up in a days, spitting out a few teeth.

The beast-man shrugged. "Not a clue, man." His poker face remained solid, but his eyes twinkled with something akin to glee.
Piper couldn't breathe. This man looked so familiar it made her heart ache. He couldn't be- the powers were the same, but it didn't make sense. Benjamin Reed died in a train accident. Her childhood friend wasn't alive and in front of her and on the wrong wrong side of the fight. She was imagining it. At least that is what she tried to tell herself. "Em, ...I think I know this guy." Her voice was a whisper, barely carried on the wind.
Gabriel couldn't move, couldn't breathe. Rapid was such a fool! He had it under control! He stood protectively over Rapid's body. He would remain there until the medics got there. Ren stuck close to his side, his arm returned to normal. Hot, angry tears fell down Gabriel's face and he looked upon the Commandos with a look that spoke volumes. The hate that swirled inside of him was unimaginable. He'd never felt something like this before. It consumed him and all logic was thrown away. He'd make them pay.

Rapid flinched being injected with serum on the ground from the medics, He squinted and tried to raise his hand but his arms for once felt heavy. Everything felt heavy, like every ounce of strength had been sapped from him. He didn't say anything as their hazy voices drilled him for questions. He knew he was under arrest. He just wished Gabriel and Ren had run for it. If there was once thing Rapid knew, it was that the jailhouse would be full of anarchist citizens and angry rebels looking for a fight, and he couldn't put them through that while they waiting in vain for bail that might never come. He squinted as his vision grew sharper and he turned his head slightly to see Gabriel and Ren with the two commandos on their either side, hands on their tar dart cannons, as it waiting for resistance. He sighed out exhaustedly and felt the stretcher he was on being lifted up. He gripped the edges of it weakly, not liking the sensation. He just knew they had to get out of this situation, he didn't trust the commandos, no matter what.
Emery frowned at Piper, the normally chill Commando Lieutenant was just standing there like a gawking sideliner. "Then why no interrogate him and find out??" he hissed. He kept his eyes peeled for others, he didn't trust this wolf-man, and he didn't plan on starting to anytime soon.

"You think you know me huh, babe?" A wolfish smirk planted itself firmly on his face. "I'm sure I would've recognized a pretty face like yours if we'd met before." His lazy drawl spoke volumes. "Actually, I bet you want to get to know me, don't you? Well, that could be arranged. Ditch your Commando boy-toy and join me. I'll make it worth your while." The suggestions hung in the air.
Piper was taken aback, yet remained stone-faced to the conversation. "..and if I take you up on your offer?" She did her best impression of a sexy voice. She wasn't very good at seduction. Hell, she was terrible at it, but she at least tried.
Wilder scrutinized the woman in front of him. She had guts, he'd give her that. He wasn't sure what to make of a woman with so much sass. A low chuckle erupted from his mouth and his canines glinted in the light. He made a move to close the distance between him and the woman.
Gabriel didn't fight. Not physically and he instructed Ren to do the same. They would go quietly... for now. He didn't plan on having a family reunion anytime soon. He just had to think of a plan to get themselves out of this situation. "We aren't resisting."

Emery bristled visibly with his hair sticking out and shouldered Piper again to snap out of her apparent stupor. "While I'm sure this guy really needs to go on a walk and pee on a hydrant I'd rather not watch him drool over you, Ice Queen." he muttered. He glared up at the wolf-man, ready to send him into orbit if he made a violent mood. What was Piper so stunned about. "Should I radio Sparky?" he held up her wrist and gave it a few wags.
Rapid heard the doors shut and stiffened as they drove towards the city center, with the jailhouse upcoming. He shut his eyes tight and tried to think of a plan.
"In you go, you too, we'll send word to your father to see if he'll pick you up, otherwise, you may be in for a long stay." they slammed the door

Piper shook her head. "No. We just need to make sure he won't get in our way and continue on with our mission." She turned her head to face Emery when it happened. It happened so incredibly fast she wasn't even sure what really occurred when it was over. One second she was about to tell Emery her plan, the next she felt the jaws on the junction of her shoulder and her neck. Blood spurted from the wound, but she didn't notice. The beast-man hadn't let her go after he bit her. He held on tight to her and faced Emery with a savage expression, daring him to make his move.
Gabriel sat quietly, unsure of how much time they'd have left. Quentin Reed was a man he didn't ever want to face. Not again. Not in this lifetime and hopefully not the next.
