Johnny flung himself down the stairs, seeing Angel collecting books. He narrowed his eyes, seeing the blankets discarded around the chair. “Angel,” he began quietly, a feeling of apprehension overcoming him. “You saw Elroy. Where is he?”

"I told him to go, and he did." Angel raised his gaze warily. "I didn't take any pleasure in kicking him out, Johnny. I have over 500 people I have to look after. We can't afford to keep him here. Either he'll go berserk or they'll slaughter us to get to him." he stacked the last book on top. "He ran out the front door. I didn't see where he went." he sighed heavily and Duke ambled up, whining and leaning against him for ear scratches. Angel looked up with saddened eyes. "It sucks being the bad guy, but I had to do it."
Sheila started towards Angel like she wanted to hit him then stormed past and hurried towards the door. On the way she could hear Kate and the other yelling about the Reboot members killing in the streets. They had to find him and fast.
--
Elroy was on the move again, weak and shambling he'd made his way to the park near the far point, as close as he dared to the border of the City and the outside world. He knew there were patrols keeping people in. He saw the signs for the city dump and slid down the snowy slopes and headed towards the trash compactors and incinerators. The lights and power long since gone, it was just mountains of snow covered trash. He pushed inside the incinerator offic and sat on the floor. He didn't know where he was going. He couldn't possibly turn these machines on alone. He didn't have the energy reserves, much less mormal human strength to do much more than walk. He rested his back against the door. At least he was alone. They couldn't kick him out here. He close heavy lids, shivering in the cold. Maybe dying wasn't the worst that could happen/ He could stop being used by Alfonse, stop putting his friends in danger. Stop feeling so wretched. He hugged his knees close and fell into a fitful sleep.

Johnny’s eyes flashed, and he grit his teeth. “Do you think they would have tried so hard to get him back if he were still under their control?” he asked, anger mounting. “He’s vulnerable right now Angel. We need to help him, we’re supposed to be the good guys!” His eyes burned, the tension dropping as he saw Sheila run outside. He shook his head at Angel, before taking off after her.
Elroy, where are you? Sheila and I are on our way!

Sheila hurried into the street, the sun was going down and it was getting colder. The snow was getting whipped up by the wind. She looked around but couldn't find him, and couldn't risk calling his name with the Reboot's around. She kept close to Johnny as they searched. "Johnny, he won't survive a night int he open, its gotta be 5 degrees out here." she shivered.
Elroy groaned hearing Johnny's Tpath that roused him from sleep. Johnny? You should go back to the library. Its not safe for you guys to be around me. I didn't know the extent of the damage I cause and now... he trailed off. Its better if I just go down with the ship. He stared out at the mountains of trash around him. If he was gonna die, he wanted it to be fast. That couldn't happen here... He got up and headed towards the top of the junkyard where it butted against the sea cliff. Angel was right. he continued. And who am I kidding. I can't bring Molly back. It was stupid of me to think I could. I should be dead from the surge but I'm not. I can fix that though." he started his climb up the snow stairs, the wind was biting at his exposed face and ears and he squinted into the driving snow. I'm sorry I caused all this trouble... he stumbled to the top of the cliffs and looked out at the vast ice-choked bay clouded by the storm. He shut his eyes, trying to think of a reason to stay.
--
Back in hiding, Angani pushed through the tiny kitchen window and peered outside. It was quiet, they needed to start the trek back to the library and get Kaiser some medical help. If Seda couldn't heal him he risked infections and paralysis. He helped Kalyn move Kaiser through the window and started their snowy walk once more, right past the Dairy Queen where Rapid was bleeding, sitting in the alleyway with Dane.
Rapid was in a daze from blood loss and looked like he wanted nothing more than to pass out. He didn't think he could walk any further for the pain, and every moment made the M bullet burrow deeper into his side. He saw some stragglers in the street and froze, they could be enemies...

Johnny grabbed at Sheila’s hand, fear twisting knives in his belly. “We’re gonna find him Sheils,” he promised. Elroy, please, don’t do anything rash. The Rebels caused this, not you. You had no choice. But it’s okay, we can make this right. We’re going to start with Molly!
“What are you doing, Seibert?” Nailah asked, coming to form behind Elroy. She watched him stumble from the library, and had followed him to the cliffs edge. “This wasn’t what we agreed.”
---
Kaiser raised a hand weakly, seeing the shapes of people nearby. “Hey,” he called, voice rasping. “Don’t be alarmed, we’re not – “ he broke off, lapsing into a coughing fit.
Kalyn’s hold on him tightened. “We’re not with the Rebels,” she finished for him. “You guys look way too beat up to be bad guys. They’re gone, then?” She cast about for any information that might let her know what had befallen Alan and Kate.

Dane snorted, pushing him away. It felt like he was trying to push a giant boulder. "Oh shut up, I'm fine." He sighed and crouched beside him. "Look...I don't know what to do...I can heal myself but...?" He froze, hearing voices behind him. He looked up and instinctively pressed against the large man. "I...um..." He looked between Rapid and the newcomers before standing. "Yeah, I guess. I don't know. He's uh, he's hurt. I'm fine but he's not and...uh...I don't know what to do." --
Zeke laughed. The sound was a little strained, frustrated by how much the image unsettled him. "Oh really? Well, I'm sorry. Looks like the apocalypse had different plans, huh?" He looked down at his own pieces, distractedly pushing them into a neat line on the floor. "Though if it makes you feel better, you probably would look good together. After all, you look good with anyone." He flushed as the grumbled words tumbled out, not holding the sarcastic edge that he'd intended.
--
Heart in his throat, Nico stumbled cautiously through the city. He kept his head down, sticking to the safety of the alleyways, and avoiding the loud fighting and shouting that was growing steadily quieter. How the hell does he expect me to do this? he thought miserably. He half considered running into the madness in the hopes that he'd be taken out, and therefore relieved of duty. With each step, his anxiety grew until he finally had to stop and lean against the wall. With gasping, shallow breaths, he sank down to the ground and hugged his legs against his chest. What am I supposed to do? If a whole army couldn't find Elroy or the Council, how was he supposed to do it?

Elroy opened his eyes but didn't turn around. He sighed heavily and stared down at the dizzying drop. "What do you care. You're getting exactly what you wanted." He stood on shaking legs, snow fell away from the unstable edge and he felt his chest tightening as he imagined the final plunge. "Everyone's happy." His shoes hung precariously over the abyss, the wind gusts threatening to push him over the edge.
--
Rapid winced as he heaved himself to his feet. "They took some singers and civilians and went back to the island." Rapid took a step and slipped badly, grabbing Danes arm for support.
Angani hurried forward. "M bullet." He mumured. "It's digging into his hop muscles and grinding the top of his iliac crest. We gotta dig it out or he'll bleed to death."
Rapid winced. "No way, don't touch it. Death's fine." He gritted his teeth against the whirring metal drill bit in his side.

“This is true,” Alliser said slowly, sliding in a second piece while Zeke was distracted. Four pieces aligned. “Looks like I’ve won.”
---
“I wanted you to bring Molly back. I don’t care for this miserable cop out,” Nailah spoke lowly, watching him sway in the wind. “You said you were going to try.”
---
Kalyn blanched, steadying Kaiser. “Uh, we’re gonna what? I don’t know if you’ve caught me saying it before, but I’m not a nurse.”
Kaiser tensed. “What would you need, Angani?”

With attention drawn to the blood, Dane could feel bile climbing his throat and he had to look away. With an oof, he braced himself against the wall and grumbled, "Shut up and let him do it." Taking a deep breath, he slipped his hand into Rapid's and squeezed. "I'm not good with dead people, so help me out here, yeah?"
--
Zeke blinked and finally looked up, surprised. "What?" he said stupidly. Looking between his own pieces and the board, his expression slowly changed. "Wait, no. NO hey!" He reached for the grid, struggling to take out the rogue black piece. "Nuh uh, no you're a cheater, so you lose!" He snatched the flat circle and held it away from Alliser.

Alliser raised a hand to his mouth, scandalised. “You’re accusing me of cheating? Me?” he stood up slowly, shaking his head at Zeke. “Don’t you blame me for your incompetence of the game, Zeke.”

Zeke tightened his hand around the little bit of plastic, a smile creeping on his face. "Yeah, I am. I know better than to trust you. You used to cheat playing Candy Land." Full on grinning now, he started to scoot away, still clutching his fist to his chest. "It's fine though. We'll just mark it down; one point Zeke.

Alliser gasped. “Don’t you dare! This is blatant defamation, I won’t stand for it,” he threw himself forward, trying to wrestle the piece back from Zeke. “Candy Land was a game designed for brilliant minds, I wouldn't expect you to understand its finer intricacies. Accept your loss!" Sand began to slip between Zeke's fingers, prying the board piece out from within.

Angani braced against Rapids other side. "Help me get him inside on the floor. I'll need some light, some kind of knife and whatever passes for pliers in my bag. Kaiser can aid me." He helped Rapid inside and settled him on the floor. The bullet would was right above his waist band and burrowing deeper. He pulled up his sweat shirt and and squinted at the wound. "You got armor skin, cutting into its gonna be tough. I gotta widen the entry wouND to try to extract the bullet."
Rapid tried to push his hands away. "Make is bigger??" He flinched as dark blood flecked the floor. "Oh shit it's killing me just do it!" He gasped.
Again looked at kalyn, kaiser and dane. "I'm gonna need all three of you to hold him down."

Zeke fell back, a choked laugh slipping out. "No! Get get your sand out of here, that's cheating too!" He wrapped one arm around Alliser's middle and rolled over on top of him, lifting his hand above his head and away from Alliser to keep the piece safe. "This is mine now, you can't have it. You're in time out."

Kalyn nodded quickly, dropping to her knees and placing a tentative hand on Rapid’s shoulder. “Easy, big guy,” she said, pressing him down.
Kaiser squeezed Angani’s arm, before taking Rapid’s other side, hand on his chest. “Anything you need.”
---
Alliser laughed, struggling to get out from under Zeke’s weight. “It’s not cheating to use your god given talents when necessary!” he argued, chasing Zeke’s hand with his own. “I refuse. I’m an adult now, I won’t be put in time out.” As he spoke, he sent sand out to the board behind them. His sand picked up another black piece clumsily, dropping it into the game. “I’ll die before you beat me at Connect Four.”
