Nailah rolled her eyes at his obstinance. "Because you're not likely to get help from anyone else," she snapped. "Or are you waiting to try your luck with the next shift of guards to come drop off your next meal?"

Elroy frowned and stood on the crumbling remains of the snow, he managed to grab her hand before the snow flattened beneath his feet and he was left kicking int he free air, he rested his elbow on the edge of the lip, figuring if she tried to drop him now he'd just pull her in with him if he could. Hopefully offering her this shred of trust would pay off...

Nailah grunted as his weight suddenly dropped in full, her muscles taut with the stress. She heaved him upwards, pulling him over the edge none too carefully. She stood, dusting the snow from her coat, and began to kick the snow around, masking her involvement in the break out. This wouldn't lead back to her."You should go. The beach isn't as heavily patrolled these days, you might have a chance." She couldn't have some grunt taking him down, easy target as he was.

Elroy groaned and got to his feet. "Well... thanks... I guess." he said uncertainly. "Who's side are you on?" he let his eyes thin a fraction as he clutched his coat around his bony frame.

Nailah glanced at him. "My own," she said after a pause. She turned towards the Academy as she reached out to Alfonse. Seibert has escaped. The snow is recently disturbed, I don't think he could have made it far. Orders? She looked at Elroy pointedly. "They're on their way. You should go now."

Elroy looked past her towards the Greenhouse and nodded before taking off at a hobbled run through the trees. By the time he made it to the cliff and saw the bridge was gone he was starting to panic. It was freezing and windy, whipping about small flurries of snowflake that stung his hollowed out face. He hurried down the steps leading to the beach, slipping on ice and falling the last flight of stairs to the ground. He winced and got up, limping towards the shore. There was already a thin film of ice in the shallows. The thicker ice framed the bridge wreckage further out in the water. It was a long ways through dark, freezing water. Any second now he could be caught, or worse, Alfonse could take another vial of blood and make him march back. He took and shaky breath and walked out onto the thin ice, the cracks spider-webbed under his feet the first few steps, then his leg broke through, plunging him through the ice into the water, the cold sucker punched his breath away and he choked for air. He gritted his teeth and started to swim, the cold numbing his limbs, water weighing down his clothes like cement. He struggled to keep his head above the choppy surf. He made it to the first ring of thicker ice and tried to pull himself up but it broke away under his hands. "No no no!" he gasped, cold stealing his strength as the ice broke and cracked under every strain he made to heave himself up. He grabbed the edge and clung to it, shivering madly, breath coming in pitiful puffs. Already his wet hair was freezing. He gripped the ice and tried to haul himself up one last time, flopping his torso onto the ice he dragged himself on top and pulled himself towards the center. He could scarcely breathe from the cold. He fell on his side. He could hear the ice cracking from him and the waves. He looked out across the bay, eyes blurred. He couldn't make it. This was as far as he could go. He blinked frosty lashes and tried to heave himself to all fours but collapsed back down on the ice, it cracked underneath him and started to buckle, the area around him welled with dark water, he was getting pulled under. He tried to move but he didn't have the strength. He took a shaky breath as he sank below the surface, eyes squinting as he started to get dragged to the bottom of the bay...

As the ice began to crack and Elroy began to slip beneath its crust, Johnny shot forwards, scooping him up in his arms. He burst out of the water, holding Elroy close. "That was close, mate!" he laughed heartily, the water churning beneath his feet. "Let's sort those clothes out for you, huh?" He dragged a hand down Elroy's side, leeching the water from his clothes and flicking it back into the beach water. "We'll get you something warmer when we're home. You look great!"
Audrey raced towards the beach, Nailah close behind her. "There!" she bellowed, seeing their forms. "He must have had help breaking out, take them both down!" she ordered the Rebel soldiers around her. They surged forwards, a few taking aim and firing off a few rounds.
Johnny blanched as a bullet skittered off the ice a tad too close to them. "Hang on mate!" he yelled, before submerging them quickly under the water again, forming a layer of air around Elroy to keep him out of the cold. A bubble had formed around his head, giving him enough air for the distance they had to travel. His and Sheila's dock wasn't too far from here.
Nailah shot off towards the ice. Dissolving into water, she melted through the cracks and into the sea, taking off in their wake.
Audrey swore. Boss, he's made it off the island.

Alfonse threw his book on the floor and rushed towards his trailer. He won't get far. Where is Nailah! He threw open the doors to his trailor and went to the vial case and started going through the bloods. He found one of Elroy's and took a swig, nothing happened. He swore and smashed the vial on the floor. The blood was no longer good. Not alive. He needed fresh blood. Hunt that idiot down, bring him back alive if you can and bring back Nailah for questioning. Something smells fishy.
--
Elroy's vision was so hazy, he sensed himself being lifted out of the deep then back under, he shut his eyes. Still breathing, maybe he wasn't dead yet... He lost consciousness as he zoomed along under the water unawares.

"You idiots, find me a usable path across this ice!" raged Audrey, clapping a few loitering soldiers around the head. "Or you're explaining to the boss why you let his technomancer go!" The soldiers blanched, tripping over themselves to run out on to the ice. Several fell almost immediately into the frigid waters. Nailah, you better find them. Boss is pissed.

Audrey stormed through the courtyard. Nailah hadn't reported back in some time, and it didn't bode well for Seibert's recovery. "Listen up, Rebels!" she snapped. "Form patrols of up to five, we're on the hunt for the prisoner. He was last seen near the docks, as of last night. You're going to get out there and find him. If anyone sees anything, you report back to me immediately. That includes any sightings of Nailah Jelani." She let the wind pick up around them to scare them into quick action. "Move it!"
Hana rolled up onto her feet, peering at Jihun. "We should go, before she finds another excuse to show off those powers of hers," she said, cracking her knuckles. Jihun stood up quietly beside her, eyes staring off into the distance blankly. "We'll need more than just the two of us, if we're going out there," Hana continued, casting a look around the quad. She saw a silver haired girl sitting nearby and waved a hand. "C'mon, Elsie, pair up with us!"

Rashida was wrapping her hand next to Clay "Ugh why can't we just let them kill each other and be done with it?" Clay grumbled.
"Oh Clay, you have no thrill for the hunt." She sheathed her myriad of blades. "He didn't say to bring him back in one piece, just alive. So come on." she jumped up. "Lets hunt."

Elsie, who had been playing with scraps of paper on the table, shot up at the sound of her name. In a flash, she shot over toward Hana and Jihun, overshooting a bit and having to jog back. "Okay! Finally--since that big surge thing, things have been so boring here! Where are we going, let's go now, come on!"
---
Nico stood at the edge of the courtyard, refusing to venture in further and staying out of sight of the Greenhouse. Even from a distance, it felt like that glass building was watching him. Judging him. After the news of Elroy's escape, he'd forced himself to return, if anything to collect news of his survival. Plus, the tiny paranoid voice that had haunted him since that night had urged him to flock towards protection. What if Elroy came after him? He couldn't chance running into him--there was no way he could face him.

Alfonse came out of the green house, walking the worn path through the two feet of snow towards the beach, he paused and turned over his shoulder looking towards the grove of junipers and spruce.
"Well well well, look who's finally back on the island." He turned and folded his arms. "Running low on static yet, young slinger?" He blinked slowly. "What are you skulking around for?"

Jihun jumped at Elsie's abrupt arrival, shooting an alarmed look at Hana. Hana smiled at her, clapping her on the shoulder. "Agreed. Only, I don't even know where to start. Everyone's going to be at the beach looking at the tracks, we wouldn't get much headway there at all." She bit at her lip. "Jihun, reckon you can ask one of your plant friends if they've seen anything?"
Jihun shrugged. "It doesn't work like that," he said tacitly. "They're all asleep now, under the snow. I can try, but I can't promise they've been paying attention."
Hana stared at him, frustrated. "Alright, as much help as ever. Whatever, let's just try downtown and see who we can bully for intel." She saw Rashida and Clay making preparations nearby and narrowed her eyes at them. They were always a little too cruel for her tastes. "Wherever we go, I want to avoid them."
"Why? They're efficient."
"Seriously, Jihun."

Nico jumped back and pressed against the wall at Alfonse's voice. He stared, his eyes taking a moment to focus on the man before him before drawing closer into himself. He folded his arms and looked away. "I'm not sulking," he muttered. "Besides, I've used up my usefulness, haven't I? So what does it matter what I do?" He looked out over the courtyard before finally chancing a glance at the Greenhouse. His stomach flipped uncomfortably and he looked away. "I heard El--Seibert escaped." The words made him feel sick with guilt and panic.
